This week, he sent out an innocuous yet provoking thought to the Twitterverse.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Overall, I&#39;m pretty impressed w\/ Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit&#39;s abilities to predict content that&#39;ll engage me &amp; put it atop my feeds.<br><br>But LinkedIn&#8230; Ooph.<br><br>Am I alone here? Do the top few posts in your LI feed grab you? Plenty of commenters agreed, saying they\u2019re unable to find anything of value toward the top of their feed.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many lamented the fact that most LinkedIn posts are essentially lead magnets. It\u2019s a parade of self-serving case studies, research reports, eBooks and the odd blog post.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But this got me thinking: is that an inherently bad thing? But that doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s not valuable.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>#1 is about a topic I\u2019m interested in but relatively unfamiliar with.<\/li><li>#2 is from a former client on how reviews play into the marketing mix.&nbsp;<\/li><li>#3 is from a new connection (a much more experienced content lead) on writing tips.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, I\u2019m a content marketer. And it shows.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Using LinkedIn to Fill in the Gaps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe the LinkedIn algorithm works better for me. All three of these posts are quite literally about my job. I\u2019ve spent time building a network on LinkedIn not only around my interests, but also my industry. Why wouldn\u2019t I take the time to see what my connections have to say?<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is what I landed on in my reply to Rand Fishkin.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"594\" height=\"198\" src=\"https:\/\/wiza-edge.b-cdn.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/screenshot5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-470\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wiza-edge.b-cdn.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/screenshot5.png 594w, https:\/\/wiza-edge.b-cdn.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/screenshot5-300x100.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Since I\u2019m in content marketing, I use LinkedIn primarily to connect with people I can learn from.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re in sales, wouldn\u2019t you expect to see posts and links from sales agencies, other sales leaders and even competitors? That\u2019s the value you get out of the professional network you\u2019ve built on LinkedIn (and don\u2019t even get me <a href=\"https:\/\/wiza.co\/blog\/advanced-search-on-linkedin-sales-navigator\/\">started on LinkedIn Sales Navigator<\/a>).&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t use it to replace Twitter, Reddit, Instagram or Facebook (confession: I\u2019m not even on Instagram).&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, you tell me: am I using LinkedIn wrong?
